Video transcript:
Today we are going to talk about resilience resilience is the ability of material after being bent compressed or stretched to snap back to what it was before in common parlance it is the capacity to recover from adversity.
Resilience is good extreme resilience is even better extreme resilience is when you bounce back so quickly that someone outside could not even see that you had been brought down.
Both her mom was a famous Buddhist teacher and is credited with spreading Buddhism through China into Japan where it eventually became Zen legend has it that Buddha Dharma meditated so fiercely in a case that is arm and legs atrophied and fell off so Daruma doll modeled on Buddha Dharma does not have any limb it is heavily bottom breaker so you cannot knock it down roll it onto it twice and it bounces back hit it ten times and it'll bounce back ten times it is the 11th time and it's already bouncing back before you've removed your hand that is the village resilience or something that mutants calculate.
I'm about to share with you and exercise on how you can do that as we go through life you will experience setbacks of one kind of the others and in all areas of your life
most of us permit setbacks to take us down emotionally and some of us even spiral down into depression this is unnecessary resilience will permit you to take whatever life throws at you and rise up smiling.
Here's an exercise to you:
Imagine that you're a civil engineer I'm a county executive and I call you into my office..
I want a road built from place a to place B and between place a and place B there is a forest a swamp and the mountain you get angry at the forest the swamp in the mountains of course not that's the terrain do given your competence to the civil engineer is going to be measured by how you get the road built do you go over the obstacles under them or through them.
If the mountain is made of granite and particularly difficult to go through if the forest is really thick you might consider doubling your feet but apart from that it has no impact upon your emotions your life is like that you are a civil engineer it is your job to get the road build the road to successful purposeful joyful life the irritating and perhaps toxic people in your life the adverse situations that you are subjecting.
These are the forests the swarm and the mountain you don't get angry at them you just figure out how you're going to get your road built in spite of them keep this in mind you're a civil engineer you and you alone are responsible for building the road of
your fulfilled joyful purposeful existence
